Did you find that lobbing sticks hurried conkers along a little too much, so they were a bit pale and squishy no matter how much you &lt;s&gt;baked them in the oven&lt;/s&gt; allowed them to mature naturally as the unspoken rules specified?&lt;/b&gt;</description>

Every October we had the announcement at assembly at school reminding us not to throw sticks into the Horse Chestnut tree to get the conkers down, but to wait until they fell down naturally and were ripe enough &#039;to be put to the use that God and small boys intended for them&#039;. This being the Annual Joke, we all laughed dutifully and went and chucked sticks up at it anyway. Of course, this was before Health&#039;n&#039;Safety... and sexism, now I come to think about it.</description>
